Robotics Log six, Robotics meeting eleven (10/5/2017, 3:50-6:05)(Alex Eagan)

Today, we did multiple things.

  • One, we decided after a long discussion that we are not going to be using the rev robotics expansion hub because it would require getting many expensive adapters and in the end we don't believe it will be better.
  • We also decided that we would use blocks and onbotjava programming instead of android studio for the sake of convenience. 
  • We designed a base for the robot and started on an official section for the claw.
  • We figured out the worm gear we would need to make our claw and found it on the tetrix website. This also lead to the creation of a list of needed parts.
For our robot, we have decided on having at least, a 2 motor 4 wheel drive train(2 omniwheels) on a standard rectangular base, and an arm that has a claw on the end. the arm will be able to spin at both ends, and fold at both ends and in the middle. This will use 2 motors and 3 servos with the current version. A smaller version without any motors/servos/the actual claw can be seen in a previous meeting's pictures.
